SANTENAY BEAUREGARD PREMIER CRU BLANC Grass is sown between the vines to
naturally regulate the yield and encourage the microbial
life in the soil without adding chemicals. The Roger Belland
vines are easily recognisable by the grass between the
vines. The SANTENAY BEAUREGARD wine is one of the most famous Premiers Cru Santenay white wines. It is situated to the East of Santenay 500 metres from the boundary of Chassagne-Montrachet. The origin of the
word « BEAUREGARD » simply comes from the fact that from
this point there is a very beautiful panoramic view. Facing South -East the area is ideal for Chardonnay wine. GRAPE VARIETY : Exclusively 25 year old
CHARDONNAY vines. SURFACE AREA : 0.60 Hectares. PRODUCTION :
2000 bottles per year. TERROIR : fairly stony
clay-limestone soil. The fermentation lasts for about 15 days, using controlled temperatures in one year old oak barrels. . The lees are stirred weekly in the barrel during an ageing period lasting for about 12 months. The clarification and the clearness are obtained by using a well-known ancestral fining process. The wine is golden with green flashes,
and of a light straw colour. A honey bouquet with touches of
toasted bread and exotic fruit. On the palate it is very
round with a slight touch of vanilla and has the charm of
the fat typical of the Santenay wine, with a slight acidity
that makes it a well balanced wine. WHITE
SANTENAY wine should be served at a temperature
of around 14°. WHITE SANTENAY wine is ideal served with ham, or with a terrine while it is still young and with sea fish and scallops once it has reached maturity. |
